The Dimapur District Football Association (DDFA) is set to organise a Penalty Shootout Tournament in Dimapur. The DDFA’s first sport event this year, the tournament will take place from December 14-15 at the DDSC Stadium.
Making the announcement today, DDFA President, Mughato Aye said that the association was not able to conduct any event, including scheduled tournaments, this year, owing to the pandemic.
“We could not even conduct the annual DDFA League and other events,” Aye said, while stating that the new DFFA team, who took office in January, is hopeful things will improve.
“NFA (Nagaland Football Association) has a new team, DDFA has a new team. We have so many programmes in mind. We are optimistic that under the guidance of the NFA, we will be able to take football in Nagaland to newer heights.”
As a reminder, he informed that any local football event must have the sanction of the NFA through the DDFA.
He maintained that the spot-kick tournament will be held under strict compliance of the laid down pandemic SOP issued by the government.
It will be a knock-out event and the number of competitors per team will be limited to 5-8 persons. It was informed that no out of state team will be allowed. While stating that the players will be required to wear mask and maintain the SOP, Aye said that the last date of form submission will be December 12.
