Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): The Dimapur District GB Association (DDGBA) today reminded the members and the NGBF the line of the Constitution that guides the Office of the Association.
The DDGBA in a press release stated it “was never on tribe basis but on the Constitution; its only concern was on the allegiance of the GBs to the constitution.”
The release maintained that the DDGBA led by President, Longer Jamir and other GBs are governing the District GBs as per the DDGBA constitution. “But unfortunately, another group of GBs led by Khehovi Chophy defied all rules and norms of the constitution and elected themselves as Office Bearers,” it stated.
To add to the dismay of the Association and the public, the Nagaland GB Federation has openly come out in support of the latter, the DDGBA added.
Article 14 of DDGBA constitution states, “The Executive Committee shall select a team of Search Committee consist of five (5) members to conduct the selection of office bearers. A Convenor and Secretary shall be selected among the Search Committee Members. The Search Committee after completion of the selection process of office bearers shall present the report to the general session for approval.”
The constitution of NGBF also states in Article 8 (b) that “No election system shall be entertained or introduced for the post of office bearers of the Federation,” the DDGBA maintained.
Regretting that few GBs at the District have violated and disregarded the Constitution of DDGBA and chose the wrong way, and the NGBF has compromised on the DDGBA Constitution and on its own Constitution, the Association has thus appealed to the group led by Khehovi Chophy and the NGBF “to come back in the way of the Constitution in the greater interest of the Association and the public in general.”
It further appealed to all the GBs to uphold the truth, remain vigilant of any individuals with vested interest and to abide by the rules that govern the Association. “The DDGBA will stand by the truth and will support any GB who act with righteousness & truthfulness,” it added.
