DDLSA opens Legal Literacy Club in government schools

Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) opened Legal Literacy Club (LLC) in five government schools on September 13. The LLC was opened in Government High school, Diphupar, Government High school Naharbari, Government High school, Burma Camp, Government High school Lingrijan and Government High school, Sarbura. It was inaugurated by Ajongba Imchen, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of Dimapur DLSA.  

Inaugural sessions included legal awareness programme in all the Schools. Ajongba Imchen explained the cornerstones and goals of LLC and its functioning. Imchen spoke on the basic legal rights and civil liberties, human rights, fundamental duties, Constitutional obligations and urged the students to take the benefit of reading Legal Literature Materials made available to students in the Legal Literacy Club (LLC).  

He further informed the students and teachers to seek help and assistance of Legal Services Institutions for any issues they may encounter in the nature of injustice or atrocity to anyone, especially Child Labour, Child Marriages, Ragging, Road Safety, Rights of disabled persons, Right to Education, Protection of Environment, Protection of Children, etc.  

Imchen also exhorted the students to grab this opportunity as being a member of the LLC which will strengthen their capacity to advocate for human rights, social justice and become civilized citizens of the country. The Schools also provided space to serve as LLC cell and Dimapur DLSA provided basic office equipments, computers & furniture along with Legal Literature booklets/brochure/pamphlets published by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority.
