Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) settled 29 cases during a National Lok Adalat organized on April 14 at District Court Building, Dimapur.
The cases pertained to banks, BSNL, Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT), and insurance claims, stated a press release from DDLSA.
“Total claims amounting to Rs. 56,97,100/- were settled thereby avoiding protracted legal proceedings in respect of the claims,” it added.
The proceedings were carried out by Presiding Judges, Conciliators, Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers. Earlier, the Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Neiko Kanuo, Chairman DDLSA cum Principal District & Sessions Judge, Dimapur.
The release noted that Lok Adalat is meant for amicable settlement of cases based on the concept of conciliated settlement of disputes. The system of Lok Adalat is economical and justice delivery is quick and effective, it added.
While extending appreciation to the banks, conciliators, lawyers and general public for participating in the Lok Adalat, DDLSA has encouraged the public to bring forward any matters for settlement at the Lok Adalat.
