DDTA bags 28 medals, emerges 1st runners-up at State Championship

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 4 (MExN): The Dimapur District Taekwondo Association (DDTA) participated in the 35th Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship 2025 cum Under-14 ‘Catch Them Young’ Tournament 2025, hosted by the Longleng District Taekwondo Association at Longleng.

A total of 40 players from Dimapur took part in the tournament across Senior, Junior, Cadet, and Sub-Junior categories, in both male and female divisions. The team secured a total of 28 medals — 10 gold, 12 silver, and 6 bronze — and emerged as the 1st runners-up in the overall championship standings.

The team was led by Heoshe Yeptho, Working President of DDTA, with team managers Nishi Roy (Vice President, DDTA) and Sanjay Chetri (Organising Secretary, DDTA). The coaches were Subham Sharma and Navjyotee Das. Six referees from Dimapur officiated in the tournament — Limatula Jamir, Amarjit Singh, Deepak Kr. Prasad, and Anirudra Pandey (all National Referees), and Bodrulsah Barbhuiya and Imtisangla Jamir (State Referees).

DDTA expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Taekwondo Association, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland, and the Longleng District Taekwondo Association for successfully organising the event.

The association also extended thanks to Dr Tinojongshi Chang, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur and Chairman of the Dimapur District Sports Council (DDSC), and the DDSC officials for the timely release of funds to support the team’s participation.

Acknowledgement was also given to Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, for facilitating transportation for the team, as well as to the parents of the players for their financial support. DDTA further thanked its President, Howoto Jakhalu, for his continued support and encouragement throughout the championship.
