DIMAPUR, AUGUST 9 (MExN): The Dimapur District Task Force (DDTF) on Single Use Plastic held a meeting on August 8 at the DCs Conference Hall Dimapur.

ADC Dimapur, Mhalo Humtsoe who chaired the meeting, emphasized the importance of enforcing the government-mandated ban on single-use plastics.

According to a DIPR report, the task force resolved to form a sub-committee and henceforth go for regular monitoring where defaulters would be penalised a sum of  Rs10,000 (first offence) and Rs 20,000 (second offence). A formal order detailing the complete ban on single-use plastics, including fines and penalties for non-compliance would be notified.

The task force also decided to launch a widespread awareness campaign using IEC materials, print media, churches, and schools for informing the public about single-use plastics and their alternatives.

Additionally, directives would be issued to churches, event organizers, and hotel/venue owners to prohibit single-use plastics on their premises to public as a means of reducing demand. The DTF also informed that SUP Public Grievances App “SUP-CPCB” has been developed by CPCB where any citizen can lodge a complaint if they see any banned items.
