Newly ordained priest Reverend Fr James Kulvi Rolnu along with his parents after the priestly ordination at St Joseph's Indoor Stadium on Thursday in Jakhama.
Kohima, December 27 (MExN): 31 years old Deacon James Kulvi Rolnu of Jakhama Village was ordained priest under the theme, " I am with you always, " (Mt.28:20) infront of thousands of people today at Indoor Stadium of St. Joseph's College ( Autonomous ) on December 27 at Jakhama .
The rite of ordination was solemnized by Most Rev. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, which was organized and hosted by Mary Help of Christians Church, Jakhama, stated a press release from Max Marius Khieya, member publicity committee.
Followed by altar servers, family members of Deacon Kulvi, celebrants and bishop, elders clad in traditional attires led the entrance of procession in the traditional way before the Mass began.
Delivering his homily, the bishop said as Lord Jesus choose some people in particular to exercise the office of priesthood in favor of all men, publicly in the Church in His name, His personal mission as teacher, priest and shepherd would be continued throughout the history .
"You have very generously responded to the call of God and cooperated with Him in the persons of your formators so that they could testify that you have been found worthy," the bishop said to Kulvi while congratulating him.
During the felicitation programme, Rev Kulvi, the newly ordained priest said he was overwhelmed by the many blessings he have received. He thanked God for the gift of faith and his invitation to share in His divine life.
"Not only did He see fit to bless me with this faith but He also called me to the sacred priesthood. For such a gift, I can only bow in humble gratitude," James Kulvi said.
Rev Kulvi, the new priest who came from Rome also acknowledged the Almighty for truly being faithful in walking the path on which God called him. "He made me, called me, and above all, sustained me with his faithful love through the various stages of our lengthy Jesuit formation, "he added .
Meanwhile, Rev Fr Dr Melvil Pereira SJ, Regional Superior of the Kohima also expressed his happiness for Rev. Fr. James Kulvi on fulfilling his long-cherished dream of serving the Lord .
"Fr Kulvi, you have been found worthy and you have willingly given yourself to Jesus today. Never look back, my brother and keep on giving yourself to the Lord and He will bless you abundantly," Dr Melvil told him .
Special songs were presented by Jesuit brothers and fathers, CYA Jakhama Choir and Jesus Youth Jakhama .
Gabriel Kujur, the Bishop Emeritus of Daltonganj Diocese, Fr Dr Sunil Ranjar, Professor of Scripture from Biblicum, Rome, Rev Fr Kinley SJ, the one and only Jesuit from Bhutan, a host of other priests, nuns, brothers, family and relatives of Kulvi, various associations, organisations, neighbouring villages, Kohima town, individuals, invitees and guests attended the priestly ordination .
