The dead body of a man was found lying inside a ring well on the evening of November 26 on the side of the National Highway 29 near 4th Mile, Dimapur. 

Speaking with the Officer-in-Charge (OC), Diphupar Police Station at the site of the incident, he reported that the police had received the information at around 3:20 PM following which a team was sent to investigate. As per his estimate, the deceased’s body, semi-submerged under water had been laying inside the well for 2 days or more before being found.   

Meanwhile according to Commissioner of Police (CP), Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, the person was later identified as a Naga male of 38 years, who was a resident of Diphupar but originally from Atoizu. “We do not suspect any foul play as of yet as there were no injury marks on the body,” he said. The CP further mentioned that the deceased had gone missing from his home for 2 days. 

It was also learnt that no post-mortem was conducted on the body as per the requests of the deceased’s family. Having conducted all the formalities by the authorities the body was handed over to the family for last rites.
