Dealing with special section of people: Dimapur DC

Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): A sensitization and awareness programme on Child Rights and Child Protection and its Mechanisms in Nagaland was held at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur on October 24.
As per DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur Kevekha Kevin Zehol in his speech reminded all stakeholders that they are “dealing with a very special section of people who are the future of tomorrow.”
He also felt the need of creating more awareness among the masses about the vulnerability of the situation the young people face in today's world due to different factors, such as social media which lures the young people to negative situations.
During the programme, role of Child Welfare Committee, role of Juvenile Justice Board, role of District Child Protection Unit and the role of SJPU was presented by Member, Child Welfare Committee, Limasenla, 1st Class Magistrate Chairman, Juvenile Justice Board, Protection Officer, Esther Sumi and official from Child Welfare Police Office, Dimapur respectively.
CHILDLINE Dimapur delivered a powerpoint presentation about their activities highlighting the various reported cases. NT Kikon briefed the gathering about the roles and procedures of adoption. The programme was chaired by Counsellor, Husheli Sumi, which was organised by District Child Protection Unit in collaboration with District Administration.
