• 1. Each and every government servant should work and be in station. 2. Offices need to function. 3. Stop recruitment of post which do not have genuine role.
• 1st and foremost, the finance portfolio should not be held by the CM or Dy CM but should be assigned to other capable MLA, you all know what I mean. 2nd and the most important: CCTV should be installed in every HOD offices and the biometric attendance for signing in and out, that way the subordinates will automatically fall in line if the boss himself/herself is present on time everyday regularly. Finally there should be a 360° appraisal system in all the offices of all the departments.
• Dissolve students’ bodies, including NSF, that are affiliated with political parties, and form better ones. Have a minimum requirement of Masters for any political candidate.
• For holistic development in Nagaland, there must be honest assessment of the ground situation. Besides the issues of infrastructure (or lack of it), the main obstacle is trust. The public just does not trust the government and administration because both these machineries have failed the public. Both the government and the administration have misled the people and failed to prove themselves. For development to take place, it must first start with building public trust.
• If our youth are the future and entrepreneurship is truly the way forward then we need stable policies and fair leadership and not favouritism. The process should also be simpler while availing and more transparent because unnecessary complications only create uncertainty and discourage people from moving forward. 2. Please don’t judge candidates only by experience certificates. Give freshers a fair opportunity to gain the experience they need at the same time, performance and commitment should always remain the standard. 3. Every department should adhere accountability, transparency, reliability and efficiency. Public service should be measured by performance and responsibility. 4. It is time to move beyond every form of “ism.” Let merit, integrity and unity guide us instead.
• Improve road and railway connectivity, economic growth highly depends on proper public transportation and good road infrastructure. Also stricter rules on corruption- (applicable to both leaders and public) where one who reports regarding corruption to a police gets rewarded and not punished. Nagaland one such place where people who stands for the truth are despised the most. There are so many other things but first is road that should include all the districts not just Kohima and Dimapur!!!! How long will these two districts sustain us?
• Include deserving private colleges under government aided colleges, even if it is a simplified version, of what the rest of NEI and other states in the country are practicing. It will open doors to Ministry of Education for external funding akin to previous UGC Funding to higher education institutions. Our state is losing.
• Inclusive and holistic development begins with transparent governance, merit-based appointments, strict accountability, and zero tolerance for corruption. Public funds should serve the people and not personal interests.
• Instead of spreading resources, it would be much better to develop cities or districts one by one. While walking slopes, firm hold on you left feet guarantees a safer next step for the right, but then again this will only work if the next step is envisioned for. Won’t work if you spend too little or too much time and resources in one place.
• Only need based development should be done and not for politicians
• Our state need think tanks and policy research to hold the government accountable and also to guide policy makers. Just depending on politicians and bureaucrats will not help at all.
• Provide- 1. Good roads 2. Good electricity 3. Good health care 4. Good educational centres and citizens will do the development. Begin with providing these 4 basic needs and the rest will follow.
• Resources must serve the Naga people only and not government or outsider businessmen
• Sorry to say this government lacks vision. What is even more worrisome is that there are no emerging alternative leaders. The young ones have been a disappointment because they are all trying to ape and replace the ones in the seat. They will only follow the same agenda with the same style. Change is not coming.
• Step 1: In Nagaland 76% of the government servant apply for government jobs for ‘stable income and financial security’ only and not because to work for government and brings/create innovation or to improve the area where the department needs to work on it harder or to work towards for betterment of tomorrow. We all know the bitter truth, the moment we hear he/she secured the government job than by default the first thing in our mind is ‘financial security for life set’ for him/her instead of ‘he/she gonna bring change/improve/innovate to the government sector by working hard to improve this/that bended department, isn’t this something to worry about from the perspective of a government assessment? Until and unless our people STOPS opting for government job ‘just’ for financial stability than nothing will ever change.
• The Naga people should tell the government what to do and government should act accordingly not vice versa
• The rights of marginalized people must be on priority
• The state government must have a decentralised system where the focus is not just on Kohima and Dimapur. It is time to start investing in Tizit, Naginimora, Tuli and Bandari areas. If the government is able to focus in these few strategic locations, it will help the Naga people to economically grow.
• What is really affecting governance is the current culture where politicians’ appoint their own children or kin, or individuals endorsed by villages who supported them as their personal advisors. This group of personal advisors and secretaries to elected politicians, with no qualification but only to promote and safeguard their own interest is very concerning. They must be accountable because they are using unchecked power for their own interests.
