Dimapur April 25 (MExN): The Naga Hoho extending condolence on the death of NNC leader Yongkongngangshi, has termed the death of the Naga-struggle stalwart as a wake-up call to all the Naga people to ask themselves how much more deaths would it take before the people finally learn to live and let live as one.
“Wasn’t the news of the death of Uncle Yonkong (Imkongangshi) at London yesterday morning, the 24th of April 2006, yet another rude awakening to all Nagas to ask themselves; “how many deaths will it still take to tell us that it is about time Nagas starts learning to live and let live?” a message from the Naga Hoho issued by Neingulo Krome, General Secretary, queried.
The Hoho stated that every proud and nationalist Naga often proclaims that he or she would die for Nagaland “And true to this aspiration people have been dying for over half a century. And all the while, those of us who are alive will keep pouring words of praises into the graves of the ‘dead and gone’ But how many of them will honestly appreciate these kinds words, from whom much more fairness is expected”.
The Hoho paid its highest respect to “Uncle Yongkong, who lived by his commitment to the cause of the Naga people till his last breath, even though broken at heart many a time, for the ways many Nagas have belittled the just cause he rightly believed in.” It prayed that the departed leader rest in peace knowing that younger Naga generation would be living the life he clamored for them through the sacrifices he made. “And during this hour of grief and sorrow, may the Almighty God grant solace to all Nagas, irrespective of political affiliations, tribes or ages of all Naga men, women and children” the Hoho stated.
