December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Dimapur, November 29 (MExN): International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) will be observed in Kohima and Mokokchung on December 3. The theme for this year is “Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want” denoting the recent adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of these goals in building a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities. This year’s objectives include assessing the current status of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and SDGs and laying the foundation for a future of greater inclusion for persons with disabilities.  

Kohima: Nagaland Parents’ Association for Disabled (NAPAD) has requested all the NGOs working for the welfare of special children in the district of Kohima to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities cum Pre-Christmas on December 3 at Highland Park, below Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima at 10:00 am. Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, Minister, Forest and Climate Change will be the chief guest and T. Merangtsungba Aier, Director, Social Welfare Department will be the guest of honour. There will be singing competition for the persons with disability. NAPAD president, Christina Mor and secretary, Kapochu-o Naleo in a press release have extended invitation to all NGOs and well wishers to participate in the programme. The organisers will be also providing transportation from designated junctions which will be notified later.  

Mokokchung: Organised by Care and Support Society in collaboration with Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority, Mokokchung district will observe International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, 10:00 am at MMC conference hall, Mokokchung Town. Sushil Kumar (IAS), DC, Mokokchung will be chief guest and Rev. Dr. Mar Atsungchanger, Executive Secretary, ABAM, Impur will pray for the persons with disabilities and children with disabilities. Representatives from churches, village Council members, well wishers, NGOs, parents of PwDs/CwDs, and PwDs/CwDs will attend the programme.
