Decision to participate in poll up to each party/candidate: ENPO

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 2 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has resolved to leave the matter for participation/non-participation to the forthcoming NLA Election to the respective recognized national/regional political parties and their intending candidates within Eastern Nagaland.

A press note from the ENPO informed that during a joint meeting on January 31, the organization resolved to continue supporting the “Naga cause whether election is held or not.”   It also said that the ENPO supports the call for a peaceful, honorable and a consensus Naga Political Solution based on the historical and political rights of the Nagas, and in accordance to the January 29, 2018 decision at Japfu Ashok Hotel, Kohima.

Meanwhile, it added that the reason for not observing bandh within Eastern Nagaland jurisdiction on February 1 was because of the “mixed reactions and lack of unanimity across the state over the 29th January 2018 decision calling for a statewide bandh.”

“It was also unanimously perceived that, the bandh would only cause inconveniences to the general public, the matter of which should not be misconstrued by any concerned thereof,” the ENPO added.
