Mokokchung, August 8 (MExN): A joint meeting of all the elected representatives from Mokokchung district and the NPF office bearers of the ten assembly constituencies in the district was held on August 7 in Kohima.
The meeting resolved that the Naga People’s Front (NPF) is a grassroots party “having no high command where the Assembly Constituencies represents the grassroots; therefore the decisions of the assembly constituencies are binding upon all party functionaries be it in the Divisional level or the Central office including the elected representatives,” according to the meeting resolution which was released to the media.
The resolution which was appended by two NPF officials each from the ten assembly constituencies said that the house expressed their wholehearted support to the ten elected people’s representatives of Mokokchung district, the newly elected interim President of the NPF Neiphiu Rio, and the leadership of the Chief Minister TR Zeliang and the government headed by him.
Maintaining that all representatives to the Division and Central office have been appointed through the respective assembly constituencies, the meeting also directed that all NPF Divisional and Central office functionaries belonging to the assembly constituencies henceforth abide and adhere to the decisions of the assembly constituencies of Mokokchung district. “Failure to adhere to the directive will invite disciplinary actions against the defaulters,” it warned.
The house further condemned the actions of Apong Pongener, Working President of the NPF for appending his consent and signature on the expulsion/suspension orders of the MLAs of the district. It demanded that Apong Pongener withdraws his consent and signature from the said documents with immediate effect, “failing which necessary disciplinary actions will be initiated against him.”
