KOHIMA, APRIL 22 (MExN): Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along on Tuesday addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the regularisation of 147 ad-hoc Assistant Professors, stating that “decisions are not taken by chance.”
The Minister was speaking during the inauguration of The Mirage Hotel, a new entrant to Kohima’s hospitality sector, located at Razhü Point, opposite Axis Bank.
In his remarks, Along maintained that every government decision involves due process and careful consideration. “There’s a process behind each decision—rooted in governance, dialogue, and what we believe is in the best interest of the people,” he said.
Referring to the growing unrest and protests led by student groups, he acknowledged the aspirations and frustrations of the youth but urged them to trust the process.
“Sometimes, even decisions meant for long-term stability may not be understood in the present moment. But rest assured, the government’s intent is to ensure fair governance and secure opportunities for all.”
He also reaffirmed the state government's commitment to transparency and dialogue under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. “We must come together, sit across the table and define our real needs,” he added, calling for constructive engagement between stakeholders.
