DEF Kohima Jawans urged to “Say No to Tobacco”

Kohima, October 28 (MExN): A sensitization programme for police jawans of DEF Kohima on harmful effects of tobacco and COPTA 2003 was organized at S.P Office conference hall Kohima on October 28 by Dr. Arenla Walling, District Nodal Officer NTCP, District Tobacco Control Cell, Kohima, Department of Health & Family Welfare Nagaland.  

Officers and Jawans from S.P office, NAP (IR) Company stationed at Kohima and Police Stations under DEF Kohima attended the sensitization programme. The sensitization programme was focused on the harmful effects of tobacco both on humans and the environment. The speaker also emphasized on the role of the law enforcing agency in raising awareness on the harmful effects of tobacco, advocacy, reporting of violations and complying with the law.  

Dr. Arenla stated that consumption of tobacco in various forms not only affects ones health but also is a burden on the economy of the State. Recognizing that tobacco kills millions of people across the globe, the participants pledged to abstain from the use of tobacco and participate in the battle against it. They also pledged to spread awareness about hazards of tobacco and to live a healthy tobacco free life. On her final note, Dr. Arenla Walling urged the jawans to “Say No to Tobacco”.
