Kohima, July 5 (MExN): The District Executive Force (DEF) of Kohima has registered a total of 146 cognizable cases from January to June 2016. Out of these, 77 were reported cases while 69 were suo-motu self detected cases by Kohima Police. Meanwhile, 216 persons were arrested during the period – 206 males and10 females.
In a half-yearly crime report of Kohima Police released to the media, Joseph Hesso, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Kohima informed that the present status of cases registered are: Chargesheet – 55, final report – 7, and pending investigation – 84. Among the suo-motu cases (self detected cases), following are the top 7 seizures:
Recovery of 30 stolen vehicles: A total of 30 stolen vehicles worth about Rs. 1 crore were recovered. The vehicles were trucks – 4, Mahindra pick-up – 5, Tata Sumo – 5, Tata pick-up – 1, Tata Xenon – 1, Tata Indigo – 1, Bolero – 1, Maruti Alto – 3, Maruti 800 – 3, Maruti Zen – 1, Maruti SX4 – 1, Maruti Esteem – 1, Hyundai Santro – 1, Motorcycle – 2 (inclusive of 3 vehicles from other district and 6 vehicles reported stolen from other States).
Ganja: 2886 kg of contraband ganja worth about Rs. 28.86 lakh in the national market were seized.
Opium: 5 kg of opium worth Rs. 1.25 lakh in the open market were seized.
Liquor: Various brands of IMFLs comprising 279 cases of various categories worth about Rs. 2.79 lakh in the local market were seized.
Drugs: 52,000 capsules of banned Spasmo Proxyvon drugs worth 5.20 lakh in the street market were also seized.
Arms and ammo: Various types of arms and ammo as under were seized: Two 7.65mm pistol with mag, one 9mm pistol with mag, one .22 pistol (Made in China), 6 muzzle loading gun, two .22 Rifles with Mag, two 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifle, one 12 Bore DBBL Rifle, one live rounds of 9mm ammo, two live rounds of 7.65mm ammo, 21 .22 live rounds, eight numbers of fired .22 ammo, 7 .22 bullet head.
Explosive substance: 50 gelatin sticks, 17 meters of cortex fuse wire, 230 numbers of detonator caps were seized.
