25th Loyem Memorial
TUENSANG, OCTOBER 30 (MExN): As the league round of the 25th Loyem Memorial Senior Soccer Open Championship draws to a close, DEF Tuensang produced a fine outing today outclassing Unique Bulls FC in a Pool C encounter. The cops were in attacking form to hand a 4-1 defeat to Unique Bulls. Striker John struck twice, the first in the first minute and the second in the 9th minute.
Unique Bulls came back strong in the second half to narrow the lead through a strike from Chemong. But hopes of a leveller got smashed as just 3 minutes later DEF’s Aketo extended the lead to make it 3-1. Yimjong further extended the lead eight minutes from the final whistle.
Khulioh King blanked Sangzi FC 2-0 in the other game of the day in Pool D. Striker Tingnyek scored both the goals successfully converting penalty spot kicks that came their way in the 29th minute and in the dying minute of the match. Two Sangzi players were yellow carded for unsporting behaviour. Despite the loss, Sangzi FC alongwith Khulioh King have virtually confirmed quarter-finals berths.
