
Dimapur, May 11 (MExN): The Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has decided to “advice all stranded Muslims not to return to Nagaland for at least next two months or till such time the Government declares the situation as normal.”
MCD, working president, Ahidur Rahman in a press statement issued on May 11 said the decision was arrived to after consultation with the community elders, Dimapur Masjid Committees and Kohima Jame Masjid Committee and “after taking into consideration of the situation that might arise after the arrival of the stranded Muslims into Dimapur and Kohima from Assam and other parts of the country after the relaxation given by MHA for interstate movements.”
The Council affirmed that it will “try to help the stranded members and particularly the students of the community stranded outside Nagaland or request the Government of Nagaland to extend help to those in need as most of them have registered their names with the MCD and the Kohima Jame Masjid Committee recently.
“This decision is taken collectively by the Muslim community for the greater interest of the community and for the safety and wellbeing of all citizens of Nagaland,” Rahman stated.
Meanwhile, the Council also informed that the proposed quarantine centre to be set up by the community in collaboration with the administration stands cancelled as of now.
