Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): Golden Crown Theological College hosted a charity concert, a fundraising event for its girls' dormitory, under the theme ‘Defying Gravity’ on March 26 evening.
According to a press release from Music Director of the college, Avoni Odyuo, the college charges heavily subsided fees considering the students who come from lower-income families. “The students, who will be future ministers of God, pastors, missionaries, music pastors etc., hail from towns and villages in Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Myanmar. In light of this situation, providing decent facilities for the students has to come from means outside the minimal fee structure,” the release said. To raise a considerable sum in order to aid the building project for the students who have dedicated their lives for God was the basic vision and purpose of the fund-raising concert, it added.
The Music Director said that the rustic, organic and ethereal decor matched the energy and vibe of both the performers and audience. The crowd were mesmerized with pieces from musicals and soundtracks of famous movies ranging from "Les Misérablés", "Frozen" "Tangled" to "Twilight", "Fast and Furious 7" and even "James Bond Spectre". The pieces catered to both the young vibrant audience as well as the more matured ones.
The performers for the event were Kivika, Ebeni, Kiren, Chumchilo, Atong, Meribeni Patton, Thunglamo Ngullie, Norman Villas, Thungyani, Chandeno, Frankie Kaurinta, Thungbeni, Liro, Khristin, Kito Sumi, and Avoni Odyuo.
The Music Director in her vote of thanks during the event emphasized on the value of money, and the fact that the audience sparing Rs 500 for a ticket means so much to the college. It reveals their support for the cause and the ministry carried out by the college with the students and the community, she said.
The progress of the girls' dormitory along with the amount raised will be posted on the college's Facebook Page. The college has invited to visit the page to be updated on the project and other college activities.
