Delhi Ao students welcome freshers

  Dimapur, October 15 (MExN): The 28th Delhi Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Fresher’s day was held on October 14 at Nagaland house, New Delhi and was attended by over 300 delegates. Dr. SC Jamir, Governor of Odisha graced the occasion as the chief guest.   Dr. SC Jamir in his address spoke of the contribution of the Aos to the Naga community since the inception of a collective Naga history. He mentioned important Naga leaders such as T. Aliba Imti, Dr. Imkongliba, Mayangnokcha and P. Shilu Ao who had played important leadership roles during critical moments in our history. He also lamented at the lack of leadership and the deplorable situation of the present Naga society and urged the students to actively engage themselves in social, religious and political revival to redeem Naga society.   The guest speaker, Dr. Soyimchiten, Scientist at National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, ICAR, New Delhi spoke on three characteristics of success as vision, overcoming failures and following rules with the students.   Limanungsang Jamir and Imlijungla Lemtur were the hosts for the event. Yarden Jamir, President of DAKT welcomed the guests to the event and encouraged the freshers not to forget the sense of community even as they move away from home in pursuit of their dreams. Dr. Walunir, President of Delhi Ao Senso Telongjem exhorted the students to fix on their vision and work towards tapping their potential.   Junglinaro Sanglir spoke on behalf of the freshers. The annual magazine of DAKT, Lichazen was also released by Dr. SC Jamir during the event. This year’s edition of Lichazen adopted the theme “Re-imagining Democracy” in line with the urgency of reviving the true meaning of democracy which is dying a slow death in the contemporary world.   The event was graced by various dignitaries including Imkong L Imchen, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland and representatives from various students unions across Delhi.
