Delimitation Commission to arrive on April 25

KOHIMA, APRIL 20 (MExN): A committee of the Delimitation Commission comprising of Dr Sarangi, Deputy Election Commissioner (delimitation)/OSD to Commission Chairman, Shangara Ram, secretary, and SK Mendiratta, Legal Advisor will arrived at Dimapur on April 25 on a two-day visit to the state for spot verification. 

An official release said that the committee will meet representatives of political parties on April 25 at 3:30 pm, hold discussions with representatives of the Naga Hohos and tribal Hohos on April 26 at 10 am and also hold separate meeting with the Associate Members on the same at 3 pm and will depart for New Delhi the following morning. The meet will be held at the conference hall of Police Officers’ Mess, Chumukedima. 

Election Commissioner and Ex-Officio Member, Delimitation Commission of India, TN Mannen, in a release also said that the meeting will discuss two issues - allocation of seats for assembly constituencies in various districts and composition of the assembly constituencies within the law and guidelines of the Delimitation Commission in such a way as to maintain the integrity and compositeness of the various tribes.

It has requested all tribal Hohos’ representatives, leader of the recognized political parties in the state and districts and all members to attend the meeting.

The release also said that not more than 5 representative from each tribal Hohos and Naga Hoho will be allowed to attend. The deputy commissioner of all the eleven districts shall also attend the meet as a representative of their respective district, the release added.
