Demand for Frontier Nagaland is our legitimate right: ENPO

Kiphire | January 7 : Supporting the demand for creation of a separate “Frontier Nagaland”, thousands of citizens belonging to the six tribes of Eastern Nagaland residing at Kiphire came to the street today staging a mass rally organized by the ENPO.
Giving the key note address during the rally, Vice president of ENPO Yonglam Konyak said, “It is our legitimate right to have a separate state. He said that the present land (ENPO jurisdiction) was not under India, nor Burma nor China, “we are free man.” He also stated that “only after India got her Independent the present land came under NEFA whereby the present Nagaland state is created, at that time we were far backward than others.”
Touching on the constitution of India, the Vice president said, “Even the constitution of India has enshrined special provision for this region, however, this provision is deprived by the state government which is now 48 years, because of which we are backward both politically and economically.” The ENPO Vice President also assured the gathering that they will not back out till the demand is fulfilled and their goal is reached.
Former President of USLB R. Tsapikyu who also spoke on the occasion said that the issue is not a new thing since it is our legitimate right.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Khiamniungan Tribal Council President, ENSF Vice president, USSC Executive chairman, Yimchunger Tribal Council President and AST.
ENPO people living in other towns who came to attend the rally while commenting on the rally said that ‘this is the best and successful rally attended so far’ and expressed satisfaction. The programme was chaired by USLB Vice President, while USLB action committee chairman welcomed the gathering. Later, the gathering marched to submit the memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire.
 
Noklak joins ENPO rally
 
Noklak, January 7 (DIPR):
Public rally at Noklak town was held on January 7, 2011 organised by ENPO. All business establishments under Noklak headquarter was closed and thereafter a copy of memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister of India demanding for separate statehood of Eastern Nagaland was submitted to the Additional Deputy Commissioner Noklak. The rally was peaceful with no untoward incidents.
