The 23-year-old singer and 36-year-old actor both posted the same message, saying they ending their relationship because they were better as 'best friends.' 'After almost 6 loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship,' it said. 'This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. 'We will always be supportive of each other.' And the pair thanked fans, saying: 'Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years.' The couple raised eyebrows over their 13-year age difference when they began dating when Demi was 18. But she has previously praised the former That 70s Show star for supporting her through multiple trips to rehab for addiction issues. The pair often posed loved-up selfies on Instagram. The split comes at a difficult time for Demi, who is mourning the loss of her great-grandmother and attended her 'Mimaw's' funeral earlier on Friday. 'Even the sky is crying today,' she wrote.
