
Dimapur, December 5 (MExN): ATMA-Dimapur Kuhuboto Block conducted demonstration on package & practices of pea and package & practices of broccoli held at Pukhato village, under Kuhuboto Block, Dimapur on November 26.
A press release informed that the resource person for the programme were Ameto Yeptho, ATM (ATMA), Kuhuboto Block and Chumyani, AFA & BTT Member (ATMA), Kuhuboto Block, Dimapur.
Chumyani spoke on the importance aspect of practices of pea cultivation, which is a rich source of protein and carbohydrates. She also elaborated on the soil management, land preparation, spacing and varieties of pea. She further illustrated on the seed rate and treatment with rhizobium for higher production. She also emphasized on the diseases control and pest management.
Ameto, gave a brief outline on the package and practices of broccoli. He also elaborated that Broccoli is a cool-weather crop that does poorly in hot summer weather. Broccoli grows best when exposed to an average daily temperature between 18 and 23 °C. He also emphasized many studies have suggested on the increasing consumption of plant foods like broccoli decreases the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and overall promoting a healthy complexion and hair, increased energy and overall lower weight. The programme concluded by a live demonstration on the field.
Altogether 17 farmers attended the programme. Earlier the programme was chaired by Yimobendang, ATM (ATMA), Kuhuboto Block.
