
Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre in collaboration with NRC on Litchi, Muzaffarpur, Bihar organized a demonstration programme on litchi cultivation on May 3 at Ngwalwa village, Peren district.
Organized in connection with the project for promotion of litchi cultivation in the state, hands-on demonstration on litchi planting was given to 56 farmers by Dr. Azeze Seyie, Scientist, ICAR, Nagaland Centre. She also briefed the farmers about the objective of the project and encouraged the farmers to adopt scientific methods of cultivation, location suitable high value horticultural crops in the state, informed a press release.
James Kikon, Programme Coordinator, KVK Peren gave detailed information on nutrient and water management for litchi cultivation.
The 56 beneficiary farmers who participated in the programme were from Punglwa, Ngwalwa, Heningkunglwa and Gaili villages of Peren district.
According to the release, more than 87 hectares have been covered with cluster approach under the Tribal Sub Plan funded project, for which Shahi variety and Tezpur litchi have been distributed to the famers of Peren, Dimapur, Kohima and Wokha districts. Demonstrations in this regard have also been done at Kupehe and Molvom under Dimapur.
