For those who are conscious about their dental health, a dental health clinic – Clover Dental Clinic – specializing in ‘root canal treatment’ was formally inaugurated by former director of SCERT, Vipralhou Kesiezhe and dedicated by senior pastor of Koinonia Baptist Church, Rev Zotuo Kiewhuo at Sepfüzou colony (high school road) here today.
Dr Nikenlemla Imchen, MSD (Cons & Endo), an alumna of Darshan Dental College & Hospital Rajasthan, is a certified specialist in endodontics (or root canal treatment) and conservative dentistry. For the uninitiated, root canal treatment treats the soft pulp tissue inside the tooth. It is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it. The procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp) and cleaning and disinfecting it, then filling and sealing it. The common causes affecting the pulp are a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, repeated dental treatment to the tooth or trauma to it.
While formally inaugurating the clinic, the former SCERT director, Vipralhou Kesiezhe congratulated Dr Nikenlemla for her courage, ambition and dream in opening the clinic for the service of the people. He expressed great satisfaction on the present Naga youth, who unlike in the past dreamed only of getting a government job, are now venturing out in establishing their private enterprises and becoming more and more self-dependent today.
The former director expressed hope that youths like Dr Nikenlemla– who are courageous and have a noble dream of serving the people – would take the society forward and added that such youths, intelligent and self-dependent, are the real asset of the society. He also praised the parents and relatives of Dr Nikenlemla for their support in her noble venture.
In this connection, Kesiezhe expressed hope that the clinic would be a blessing and a gift for the people of Kohima district.
The senior pastor of Koinonia Baptist Church, Rev Zotuo Kiewhuo, dedicating the newly opened clinic, said that Dr Nikenlemla is the only practicing endodontist in Kohima specializing in the particular field of root canal treatment. He said that the clinic would greatly help those people who have tooth problems and needed special care from a specialist. Reading from the Bible verse Matthew 11:20, Rev Kiewhuo said that the medical profession is one of best profession which one can practice to serve the people and also to preach the gospel and serve the Lord.
Dr Nikenlemla, while thanking her parents, well-wishers and all those present at the inaugural programme, said that it had always been her dream to start a clinic where she can put her talents and specialization to greater use and serve the people. She disclosed that she was working at Kachhwa Mission Hospital in Uttar Pradesh (a hospital under the Emmanuel Hospital Association). She also served as a senior lecturer at Darshan Dental College & Hospital Rajasthan right after her post graduation.
The programme was chaired by Akumtola while Er Achakbou Newmai invoked God’s blessings.
