DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): A Dental Health Camp was organized at Old Changsu Village on February 28, where Dr. N. Chenithung Yanthan, Senior Dental Surgeon, underscored the importance of oral health and cautioned against the dangers of tobacco consumption. Highlighting its links to cancer and other serious health issues, he also launched a campaign to declare the village tobacco-free.
Dr. N. Mhonchan Kithan, Medical Superintendent of Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH), Wokha, addressed the gathering on the risks of non-communicable diseases. He urged villagers to prioritize their health through regular checkups for early detection and prevention.
During the camp, oral checkups and screenings were conducted, and various dental procedures, including glass ionomer cement (GIC) fillings, temporary fillings, and extractions, were provided to around 70 patients. Essential dental care items such as medicines, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and informational materials were also distributed.
The programme saw the participation of Dr. Wojamo Kithan, Dental Surgeon, DMMDH; Dr. Thungrhoni Kikon, Dental Surgeon, UPHC Wokha; Audiometrist Surendra; Community Health Officer Smti. Premi Nchumbeni Ezung, along with staff from Health & Wellness Centre (HWC) Changsu, village elders, and residents.
Elithung Ngullie, Chairman of Old Changsu Village, expressed gratitude to the medical department for organizing the health camp.
