DEO Kohima observes National Science Day

Kohima, March 18 (MExN): Joining the rest of the nation in an extended observance of commemorating the National Science Day 2016 under the theme: ‘Raise Public appreciation on Scientific issues for Development of Nation’ the District Education Officer, Kohima in collaboration with the department of Science & Technology, Nagaland successfully organised and conducted a competition of innovative science lecture at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima on March 18.  

The competition was intensely participated by a total of seventeen schools vying for the best three coveted positions through excellent presentation of lecture on theme of the year.   Welcoming all the participant schools Kaitunchap Newmai, who chaired the programme delivered an introductory speech on the observance of National Science Day. He stated, “For his illustrious discovery and great success in the field of science C. V. Raman was awarded and honoured with the Nobel Prize in Physics in the year 1930.”   The highly spirited students from the elementary section of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima presented welcome song. The competition, efficiently judged by Mhasikholie Sachü from TM GHSS Kohima and Sedevilhou Victor Angami from GHS Zhadima was won by the following students: Olem Kahdak, Class-9 of Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Kohima in the First Position; Philomina Rutsa, Class-10 of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima in the Second Position; and the Third Position shared by Sunjeminla Pongen, Class-10 of Model Higher Secondary School, Kohima and Nourhevito Nagi, Class – 9 of Baptist Mission School, Jotsoma.   The prizes to the winners and certificates were given away by Rüükhono Rafela Iralu, District Education Office, Kohima.   This was stated in a press release issued by Vamu Lohe, District Education Officer, Kohima.
