DEO Tuensang running without several key officials

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 10 (MExN): The Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU) today revealed that the District Education Office (DEO) has been functioning without several key officials and pointed to the lack of infrastructure at the establishment.

A press release from the CCSU informed that the DEO Tuensang is functioning without a District Education Officer (DEO), ADEO, JEO and a full fledged IA. It stated that the DEO Tuensang had retired on August 25 this year, and since then, the office has been running without a proper head.

The CCSU further expressed shock to learn that the present Sr SDEO Tuensang is also holding the charges of the DEO Tuensang, SDEO Noklak, SDEO Shamator and SDEO Longkim

It questioned how the Education Department could do such injustice to an innocent officer. “Is it not a torture or punishment? It is unimaginable for a person to shoulder five offices at a time,” the CCSU stated.

The CCSU also observed that there is not even a single computer in the DEO office. The CCSU stated that some officers do not attend office as they “find the office a mess.” To this, the union asked such officers to stand aside and give opportunity to young officers who are ready to be posted anywhere for any responsibility.

It meanwhile reminded the state government on the union's representation regarding placement of teachers under Chang jurisdiction based on survey conducted during the CCSU Educational Tour 2019.

“Many loopholes were found during the tour. However, shortage of teaching staff and HoD in schools is one of the main factors why getting through elementary and high school remains a distant dream for the students,” the CCSU stated.

The CCSU cautioned that it would not tolerate any blame game, and demanded that the department look into the highlighted matters. It demanded early posting of the mentioned officers and teaching staff.

The union further cautioned government employees in Tuensang to be regular in their duties and informed that it would be conducting surprise visits to departments at any time.
