Highlights DPDB Mokokchung’s unanimous resolution for assistance
Kohima, May 30 (MExN): The Department of Power, Nagaland (DoPN) today called for the cooperation of all District Planning and Development Boards (DPDBs) across the state to support its "Vegetation Clearance Months" initiative.
The initiative, scheduled for May and October, focuses on extensive jungle cutting along power corridors to prevent power outages caused by fallen trees and bamboos on transmission and distribution lines, stated a press release from Engineer-in-Chief, DoPN. It highlighted the recent support from DPDB Mokokchung, which unanimously resolved to assist the department during its meeting on May 21.
The meeting, chaired by the Advisor for Water Resources and Chairman of DPDB Mokokchung, resulted in the decision to mobilise workforce by involving Sub-Divisional and Circle Administrative officials, who will collaborate with Village Council members and DoPN officials, it added.
Commending the DPDB Mokokchung's proactive stance, the DoPN Engineer-in-Chief urged other DPDBs to emulate this example and prioritise clearance of vegetation and work collaboratively to ensure a consistent power supply for the citizens of Nagaland. The clearing of vegetation around power lines is crucial for enhancing the stability and reliability of the power supply, particularly in rural areas where outages are most frequent, it added.
