Dept urges TASU to withdraw intended Mon-Namtola road blockade

Kohima, April 10 (MExN): Following the ultimatum served to the State Government by Tizit Area Students’ Union (TASU), the Works & Housing Department, Government of Nagaland has assured that repair works  (IRQP) on Mon-Namtola road (141-155 Km, 160-177 Km) will be taken up once the tender formalities are completed, which will take about 2-3 weeks. A press statement from Commissioner & Secretary, Works & Housing, Nagaland further said that the Chief Minister has also committed an amount of Rs. 5.00 crores on April 4, 2017 for the said road. “The Department has taken serious note of the delay in implementation of various works awarded to contractors under Tizit-Mon area and decided to review all the road projects and necessary action will be initiated to resume these projects,” the statement read. In light of this, the department has requested TASU to review their decision and withdraw the intended blockade of Mon-Namtola road, which has been proposed to begin from April 11.
