Phek Government College is detaching Higher Secondary School Science Section from the Academic Session 2013. However, Arts section of HSS will continue with the college till such time provisions are made available to accommodate the students sufficiently in and around Phek and finally it will be detached from the college completely. The class-12 Science section will continue with the college and will be wind-off as and when they pass out the final exam of HSSLC.
This exigency happens because the college is introducing with Degree classes in Science from this Academic Session i.e. July 2013. This also due to shortage of available eligible qualified candidates to the college. Another reason is Nagaland University started Semester System from July 2012 and the Third Semester is beginning in July 2013. This continue till 6th Semester what is call the End Semester to complete a Three Graduation Course. This causes a lots of deficiency with teachers in various Departments in the college, stated by the Principal, Dr. V. Thingo. Since this is six monthly course duration in which both teachers and students has to remain academically very busy throughout the session.
To be precise, the college will not take class-11 Science admission from 2013 but this year the college will continue with Class-11 Arts admission into the college.
Meanwhile, the college is preparing all out efforts for admission into B.Sc. classes as and when NBSE declares its results. Advertisement for admission into Degree Science both Honours and General will follow soon.
