Dexter's on track!

Dexter star Michael C Hall made a brave return to acting following treatment after beating cancer in 2010. And the grateful actor jumped at the chance to pull on his running shoes to support a program which is researching the disease in Los Angeles today. He put in some laps with a giant teddy bear as he took part in the On Track for a Cure event which was raising funds for UCLA's Lymphoma Program. It took place at the prestigious university's Drake Stadium located in the heart of its main campus in the Westwood area of the city.
Michael, 40, returned to record the season five series of his hit show, which follows a serial killer with a conscience, after beating Hodgkin's lymphoma. Luckily the actor had a treatable form of the cancer, which attacks the lymphatic cells of the immune system. He has previously opened his heart about the disease, revealing he has been preoccupied with the idea of turning 39 as that is the age his father succumbed to prostate cancer.
He said: 'I think I’ve been preoccupied since I was 11, and my father died, with the idea of the age 39. 'Would I live that long? What would that be like? 'To discover that I had the Hodgkin’s was alarming, but at the same time I felt kind of bemused, like, "Wow. Huh. How interesting."' He received his diagnosis while season four was still being shot, and he kept it a secret until shooting wrapped, beginning his treatment the next day.
Amazingly his illness caused no disruption to the Dexter shooting schedule, and he was even able to shoot a movie while he was being treated. Michael is a dedicated charity worker, and is currently the face of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light The Night campaign. He is also a supporter of the Waterkeeper Alliance, an environmental nonprofit that works towards clean and safe water worldwide.
