DFL 2018: Vizheto FC win, FC Alianza & Chanan FC settle for draw

Dimapur, September 29 (MExN): FC Alianza today topped the league table of the ongoing Dimapur Football League (DFL) after their nearest competitors A1 Powerplay suffered a 3-1 defeat in the hands of P Vizheto FC.  

Organized by Naga United Football Club under the aegis of Dimapur District Football Association (DDFA), the DFL which kicked off at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur on September 14, will culminate on October 27.  

In the first match of the day on September 29, a superb display by Vizheto FC in the second half ensured that they beat the potential league leader A1 Powerplay and moved into the third spot on the league table.  

Kakhevi of P Vizheto FC opened the tally for his team in the 14th minute, which A1 Powerplay’s Yhonshalo equalized in the 42nd minute, resulting in 1-1 draw at the end of first half.   When the match resumed in the second half, two goals by Vizheto FC’s Akum in the 55th and 68th minute helped secured the team full 3 points.  

FC Alianza & Chanan FC settled for a 1-1 draw in the second match with both side failing to make any breakthrough in terms of goal after a promising start.  

Crispin of Chanan opened the scoring early on the 2nd minute of the match. However, Poujuaklung of Alianza cancelled out the lead in the 14th minute. With neither sides managing to score thereafter, the match ended in a draw, with one point each to both teams.  

Earlier, during a brief programme before the match, match patron Er. Kitoshe Aye, EE, PHED, Zunheboto Division, encouraged the young players to bring out that the best talent in them. “The purpose of this match, I believe, is not to only score the goals although you have a purpose to score a goal today. Along the journey of your practise, there have been moment where you have laughed, pained, suffered but then these are the things that has brought you to this point. That has made you to stand here with pride with prestige and display your talents amidst us,” he said.  

He also urged them to adjust with the conducts of life and play their game in a fair and discipline manner.  

Meanwhile, at the end of third-week, FC Alianza was leading the league table with 7 points from 3 matches. A1 Powerplay, P Vizheto FC, and Dorian’s Society were trailing closely with 6 points each.
