DG Assam Rifles reviews preparedness in Dimapur, visits Ghaspani garrison

Dimapur, April 6 (MExN): Director General Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, visited Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles in Dimapur to review operational, intelligence, training and administrative preparedness.

During the visit, he was briefed on the prevailing security scenario, including socio-political developments in Dimapur and adjoining areas. Intelligence updates on factional dynamics were also presented, outlining emerging trends and their potential impact on peace and stability.

The Director General assessed operational readiness of units under the sector, focusing on deployment, responsiveness and inter-agency coordination. Training standards were reviewed to ensure preparedness for evolving security challenges. He commended the troops for their work and awarded on-the-spot commendation cards to three personnel.

Administrative aspects, including logistics, infrastructure and welfare measures, were also reviewed. He noted the professionalism and morale of the personnel and called for continued vigilance, coordination and engagement with local communities to maintain stability.

 

In a separate visit on April 6, Lt Gen Lakhera also visited Ghaspani garrison in Chümoukedima district.

During the visit, he interacted with students at the Centre of Excellence (NIEDO), including Subedar P B Chhetri, a Kirti Chakra awardee, where candidates are preparing for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET. He reviewed academic preparedness, infrastructure and facilities, and interacted with students and faculty.

He encouraged the students to remain focused and disciplined in their preparation and extended Easter greetings, urging them to carry forward the spirit of hope and renewal.

The Director General also interacted with troops at the garrison, appreciating their service and commitment. Commendation cards were presented to personnel for professionalism during the visit.

The visit, according to the release, reflects Assam Rifles’ focus on security preparedness as well as support for education and youth development in the region.
