DGC graduates get life membership of Dept’s clubs

Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): In a first, all graduating students of Dimapur Government College (DGC) were presented with a lifetime membership certificate of various departments' clubs as the college celebrated its  57th Foundation Day on August 3. 

Speaking on the occasion, the DGC Principal, Prof Sanjay Sharma congratulated the graduating students on their success and wished them well for their future. 

A special mention was made of the university topper from the college, another first since its inception, and the Principal encouraged the present students to take it as a challenge to achieve similar height.

He also released “Pursuit,” the annual magazine of the college.

As per a DGC release, certificate for academic excellence were awarded to students in various categories. It included Lito H Achumi, who created history by being the first university topper from the college and she was honoured with Achiever’s Award (NU Topper) as well as Dr Hokishe Sema Award of Excellence (Arts).

 LT Yepthomi Award of Excellence (Commerce) was given to N Wonchilo Odyuo while subject toppers from all departments were also given certificate. They were: Thungyani M Humtsoe (English), Zulumongla Jamir (Economics), Ruth N Yanthan (Education), Lito H Achumi (History), Limasunep Longchar (Philosophy), Suhana Begum (Political Science) and Rose Jami (Sociology).

During the celebration, certificates of appreciation for special contribution were given to graduating students from NCC, NSS and studentcouncil. 

Graduating students who had brought laurels to the college in the fields of sports, literary and fine arts during their time in the college were also acknowledged and honoured.

Singing of college anthem by the NCC DGC, three special songs and a special item were other highlights of the event.
Among others, the celebration was attended by the college principal, sponsors of academic awards, teachers and the graduating and present students, informed a DGC release.
