Dimapur Government College lifted the overall championship trophy at the 2ndSt. Joseph University Trophy which concluded on October 7.
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 8 (MExN): Dimapur Government College lifted the overall championship trophy at the 2ndSt Joseph University Trophy which concluded on October 7.
The competitions were held in three sports disciplines which were all group/team games. Basketball and volleyball were open to both men and women categories while football was limited only to men’s, a press release issued by SJU informed.
Altogether 23 institutions from across the state participated in the championship. The participating colleges and universities include College of Nursing, Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR); Public College of Commerce; Sakus Mission College; North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR); NU: School of Agricultural Sciences; National Institute of Technology; Modern college; Norman Putsure College; Patkai Christian College; Government Polytechnic Seithekema; Don Bosco College; Tetso College; St Joseph’s College; Dimapur Government College; Yemhi Memorial College; St John college; Salesian College of Higher Education; Immanuel college; C-edge College; Salt Christian College; Mount Mary College; ICFAI University; St. Joseph University.
22 teams competed in Men’s football, 13 teams in Men’s basketball and 8 teams in the women’s category while, 18 teams competed in Men’s volleyball and 11 teams in the women’s category. The winning teams were awarded cash prizes, certificates and trophies. Besides, individual honours and titles were also awarded with prize money and certificate in recognition of their talents and contribution in the sports and game.
