Dimapur, October 3 (MExN): The Dimapur Government College (erstwhile Dimapur College) is gearing up to celebrate the Golden Jubilee in a befitting manner on November 3 with Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang as the chief guest. The Dimapur College, the only College in the town started as a private College with the initiative of a few prominent citizens in 1966. The College was taken over by the state government in 1989, and got accredited by NAAC in 2015, informed a press release issued by the publicity and media cell, DGC.
The College has created a conducive environment to accelerate quality reforms and fully committed to impart quality education to the succeeding generations of learners in keeping with the mission statement 'Impact through quality education', so as to empower them with knowledge and skills and equip them for creative leadership in an ever changing world. The College caters to nearly one thousand students in Arts and Commerce streams with fairly commendable results. The College also offers one year diploma course in Hospitality Industry Management and 6 months certificate course on Floriculture sponsored by UGC and RUSA under the Ministry of Human Resources Department (MHRD) respectively.
