Waste dumped near the wall of Dimapur Government College, adjacent to the office of the Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies.

Dimapur, July 6 (MExN): In a continued effort to address the persistent issue of waste dumping near the wall of Dimapur Government College, adjacent to the office of the Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS), the Dimapur Government College Students’ Council (DGCSC) stated that a joint meeting was held with the community councils from Hill View colony and Oriental colony on July 5.
Despite repeated warnings by the authorities through media, posters/banners, the public has remained indifferent to the appeals, continuing to dump waste near the college wall. “This negligence has adversely affected the surrounding environment and poses significant health risks to the college community, students, and pedestrians,” DGCSC stated in a press release.
The DGCSC reiterated its appeal to the public to maintain cleanliness in the area, emphasising the importance of a tidy environment for the well-being of students and residents. The student council emphasised that the continued dumping of waste is not only an eyesore but also a potential health hazard.
“Therefore, we strongly urge the public to stop this harmful practice immediately. The council warned that anyone found dumping waste near the college wall henceforth, will face strict action in coordination with the colony councils.
The Council remains committed to ensuring a clean and safe environment for all and appeals to the public to cooperate in this vital effort, it added.
