Dimapur, November 14 (MExN): The Director General of Police’s office has refuted a news report that SP (Security) Jongpong has been transferred and posted as commandant of 13 NAP in Tuli. The department has never received any order dated November 10, 2007 affecting the transfer, a clarification from DGP J Changkija, IPS. On the report that backdoor appointments to 14 NAP (IR) are being carried out clandestinely, the DGPO clarified that the department (police) had advertised in the local newspapers recruitment to the 14 NAP (IR) in the ranks of constable, havildar ad ABSI. Recruitment is being carried out in all the districts with a senior police officer as chairman of the recruitment board and applications for recruitments were submitted to district SPs by the interested individuals, the DGP stated.
Further recruitment in the rank of havildars and ABSIs, advertisements were placed in the local papers. On receipt of applications, documents and related papers were scrutinized at PHQ. The rejected list was published in the local papers, as well, indicating the reasons for the rejection, informed the DGP adding that tests for candidates whose documents were in order have started. The recruitment tests for all categories were started from November 12 in all the district headquarters. For havildars and ABSIs in Chumukedima the recruitment process is still on. The department also had adopted a policy recruitment procedure for all vacant posts which would be advertised in local papers to enable all eligible candidates to appear for the tests, the DGP stated. He also informed that PHQ also received several applications even though no posts were advertised. To ensure that ‘unfit’ persons are not recruited, a test was recently conducted at 4th NAP Thizama to “weed out such unfit applications, if any” he said.
“There has been no appointment made in anyway against this test which was carried out even though it is alleged that appointment orders were issued. If any one has any proof of the appointment the same may be submitted to the Director General of Police, Nagaland” the DGP added.
