
Wokha, November 26 (MExN): Labor Welfare Center at DHEP Doyang was inaugurated by Dr. TM Lotha, Advisor, Treasuries & Accounts, Labor & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in the presence of Er L Nungshiyanger Aier, Labor Commissioner and Er DS Rai, HoP, DHEP Doyang on November 25.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Lotha stated that the Labor Welfare Center was established for the welfare of the spouse and children working under DHEP and the residents of nearby villages whereby interested individuals can get themselves trained in knitting, tailoring and embroidery free of cost as it will be fully funded by the government. He also said that establishment of such training centers are a part of the vision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has envisioned to train and skill the labor force of the country under the “Skill India” initiatives to make them skilled and employable.
He urged the citizens of the state not to sit idle but to get trained in one or the other vocations, which, he believed, would broaden their prospects for employment and enhance their productivity and earnings. He also urged the trainees to acquire the necessary skills sincerely as it is the skills and not the certificates that would provide livelihood in the long run.
Er L Nungshiyanger Aier, Labor Commissioner also spoke on the occasion wherein he said that the eight months training courses will start by April 2017 and the department has already appointed trainers and acquired the necessary machineries and therefore encouraged the residents of the project and the neighboring villages to avail the opportunity.
Er D S Rai, Head of Plant of DHEP, Jonny G Rengma, BJP National Vice President for ST Morcha, and Council Chairman of Thillong Ward also spoke on the occasion. The programme was chaired by Vikheto Naki, Inspector of Factories and Boilers. This was stated in a press release issued by PS to Dr TM Lotha Amongo Ezung.
