DHEW & KDBA culminate badminton coaching camp for girls

Kohima, July 7 (MExN): The District Administration in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Kohima (DHEW) and Kohima District Badminton Association (KDBA) held the concluding programme of the 2-week badminton coaching camp for girls under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative on July 7. 

The camp was held at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Thegabakha Kohima from June 23 to July 7. The special guest of the event, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS encouraged the participants to excel in their academic studies while cultivating their talents in sports and other fields. He urged the participants to be consistent and expressed hope that through this camp, they would go on to win medals and awards in the field of badminton and make Kohima district proud. 

Kesoneinuo Kense, Gender Specialist, DHEW Kohima highlighted BBBP scheme and its activities. Khriekuonuo Khezhie, Women Secretary, KDBA presented the summary report and brief statistics of the coaching camp, reporting girl students between the age of 8 to 15 years participated. She also informed that sports shoes and racquets were provided to the participants in need. 

Certificates and cash prizes were presented to all participants of the coaching camp. The concluding remark was given by Kekhrie Pfukha, VP, Administration, KDBA.

The programme was chaired by Seto Khate, Secretary, KDBA and the invocation was led by Dr S N Among Jamir, Pastor, Chandmari Fellowship Kohima Ao Baptist Church.
