Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): District Horticulture Officer (DHO) Dimapur, Temsu distributed winter vegetable seeds to the six organic vegetable villages under Dimapur district during a programme held at the DHO office premises Green Park Dimapur on September 7.
A DIPR report said that the vegetable seeds included brocholi, cabbage, cauliflower, coriander, peas, beans, carrot and lettuce were distributed to the farmers of Bade, Khugovi, Zani, Virazouma, New Chümoukedima and Ekhyo Yan (Domokia) vegetable villages under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture 2020 to 2021.
Addressing the farmers, DHO Temsu urged upon them not to use chemicals and to keep up the name of organic vegetable village of the district. He encouraged them to employ local youths in their farm for successful implementation of farming project.
Further, DHO Dimapur while observing the presence of different types of soil in Dimapur district advised them for identifying the soil and to sow the seeds as per the suitability of the soil. He also impressed upon them to work sincerely with the aid given by the department and asked them to make vegetables self sufficient at least for Dimapur district while assuring all possible help from the Department.
The farmers from the 6 villages thanked the DHO for giving them seeds twice a year (summer and winter Seeds) and assured the department for maintaining it judiciously.
