DHS Kohima organizes RCH camp in Chedema model village

Kohima, November 9 (MExN): Office of the Chief Medical Officer Kohima, along with the District Health Society (DHS), Department of Health & Family Welfare, NRHM, conducted a ‘Reproductive Child Health cum Medical Camp’ at Chedema Model village under Kohima Sadar on November 9.


Hundreds of people thronged from Chedema and Chedema Model village to avail various health services, a press release from Dr Laso Lazar, Chief Medical Officer, Kohima stated.


The programme was chaired by Dr Medotsio Whuorie, Medical officer Kohima Village PHC. The Chief Medical Officer Kohima, Dr Lazar, in his exhortation reminded the gathering of the responsibilities of each and everyone in bringing about health awareness to uplift the health of the society in general and for contribution of the individual in particular.


He added that such camps are platform for people to avail services provided by the Department of Health & Family Welfare and also appreciated the participation of ICTC. 


He also spoke on the need for Community participation for bringing about sustainable health care services through their participation and active contribution, and expected that the villagers will avail maximum profit from the RCH camp.


The target groups were children and pregnant mothers. Dr Lazar further urged the community level where the VHC should take initiative for Village Health & Nutrition Day (VHND) and to channelize visitation of Medical officer to the village once a while. 


Gifts and nutritional packages were distributed to fully immunized children and pregnant mothers. Awareness on Revised National Tuberculosis Program (RNTCP) was delivered by Dr Asünü Sakhrie (DTO) where she emphasized that persons/individuals with related symptoms should undergo sputum test for early detection of TB.


She added that ensuring the adherence to full course of treatment with the first line drugs is the key to curing TB and preventing emergence of Multi Drug Resistance TB. Lab test for RDT (Malaria) – 50, ANC – 7, TB cases referred for Sputum examination – 3, ICTC screening were done to 45 clients and consultation for Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) were carried out for 50 patients.


Lab test were provided with free medicines and distribution of IEC materials. Around 100 inhabitants turned out to avail the services.
