‘Diarrhoea is leading cause of death among infants’

Wokha, August 2 (MExN): Rotavirus Vaccine was launched in Wokha district by Dr. ZubenKikon, Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Dr. Motsuo Memorial Hospital on August 2.
During the launching programme, Dr. Kikon said that diarrhoea is the leading cause of death among infants in India. He stated that Rotavirus Vaccine is an expansion of the basket of immunization that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is providing to beneficiaries in all the health units across the country. Dr. Kikon urged the beneficiaries to avail the vaccine which is given to infants at 6, 10 and 14 weeks.
The programme was chaired by Dr Khelito Zhimomi, DPP (UIP/ RCH). VirokoThapo, BPM Wokha Sardar gave the vote of thanks. Abel Ezung, VACC pronounced the invocation while the benediction was given by Mongtsushan Murry, VAC. The programme was attended by beneficiaries, DPM, doctors and staffs of District Hospital.
