DIET building construction  in Kiphire ‘at zero speed’

USSC appeals to acquit remaining funds and boost work speed

Kiphire, April 21 (MExN): The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) on Thursday expressed its disappointment for the delay in the construction of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) at Kiphire. It highlighted that the ongoing DIET building construction at Kiphire is “at zero speed.”

USSC, Executive Chairman, K Rothrongki Sangtam and Vice President, Sethrongba Y Sangtam in a letter addressed to the Director, SCERT Nagaland stated Kiphire being the most backward region in the country remains deprived and neglected in every aspect since its inception which needs to be addressed at the highest level.

“To our utter dismay, it has come to the knowledge of USSC that the work order has been issued on 5th March 2015 and it has been 8 years by now the work is not being half done,” it stated and added it “is directly hampering the vision of future generations and denying the ‘Right To Education Act’ to aspiring students, which can't be compromised in any manner.”

While taking ‘serious note of every developmental activity under its region,’ the USSC said that regarding the ongoing construction of DIET at Kiphire, the conference had discussed and deliberated on many occasions with the concerned contractor. “But despite our repeated appeal, the work is not progressing due to non-payment of funds which is quite disappointing and unacceptable under any circumstances,” it stated.

Therefore, the conference has urged upon the SCERT Nagaland to acquit the remaining funds and direct the contractor to boost the work speed at the earliest.
