With the active support of the church members as well as the citizens of Dimapur, the Dimapur Ao Baptist Church Youth Ministry (DABAYM) sales day entitled “Local Products – Made in DABA” was a stupendous success, a  DABAYM official said today.

In a novel initiative, the DABAYM, under the aegis of DABA, organised the sales day by opening stalls and offering space for its members at Wednesday Bazaar, Super Market here to exhibit products they personally created at home through their creative imagination.

The intention was to motivate, instill and nurture entrepreneurial spirits among members who are talented and creative but have limited platforms to market their wares due to various constraints, informed DABA Youth Director Imnatoshi Longkumer.

It was also initiated with an objective to give platform to help them  build up their customers’ base, he added.   Altogether, there were 44 different stalls selling, among other things, traditional handicrafts and accessories; food items; garments, bag, and pouches; flowers and decorative items; kitchens wares; recycled items.

By 12 noon, more than 3 stalls were sold out and by evening almost all the local entrepreneurs had made handsome sales, the Youth Director said pleased with the outcome.

“It was a joy for me to see many of our customers giving more than the asking rate in appreciation for the young people who worked and earned today,” he said.

Some of them made a sale of 26-27 thousand rupees. Some of the youth also tied up with shops to sell their wares, he further disclosed.

“It was one of the best sales days I have ever come across.” Today's lesson for me, he maintained is that "If the young people are willing to work and earn, we should be willing to give them the opportunity by giving them more platform like today.”

He further expressed appreciation to the Watsü Telongjem Dimapur, Dimapur Naga Students’ Union, Lanur Telongjem Dimapur, Dimapur Ao Students’ Union, ACAUT members, and DABA Church staff who contributed in various capacities towards the success of the event.
