The Department of Agriculture, Nagaland achieved a significant milestone with the official launch of its new digital infrastructure to boost agriculture activities in Nagaland on July 2. Gracing the launching ceremony at the Directorate of Agriculture here, Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor, Agriculture Department expressed his satisfaction with the comprehensive digital platform developed by the Department.

He commended the integration of advanced technologies such as Geographic Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), specialized GIS software, mobile applications, and a centralized server system.

Yanthan shared his optimistic vision, expressing confidence that this digital initiative would lead to significant improvements in farming practices, farmer incomes, and overall livelihoods.

He emphasized the importance of leveraging digital tools to empower farmers, improve productivity, and strengthen service delivery.

He further stressed the need to prioritize rural digital infrastructure, enhance digital capacity at the grassroots level, and equip field staff with the necessary digital tools for real-time data collection, monitoring, and timely advisory services to farmers.
The launch of this digital infrastructure marks a transformative step in how agricultural data will be collected, managed, and utilized in the state.

It is expected to enable better planning, efficient resource management, and more effective implementation of government schemes, ultimately benefiting the farming community of Nagaland.

The launch ceremony witnessed the presence of senior officials of the department, including Wezope Kenye, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Sanuzo Nienu, Agriculture department, underscoring the collective commitment to advancing the agricultural sector in Nagaland.
