
Dimapur, April 15 (MExN): Speaking at the 19th Foundation Day of NIIT Dimapur Center on April 14 at NIIT Dimapur Center’s auditorium as chief guest, Temjen Imna Along Longkumer, Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Nagaland said, “digital transformation is the future and we all need to be prepared for.”
“In this ever changing world and the advances being made through technologies, Nagas have to shed their narrow-mindedness to embrace change for better,” he said while recommending that NIIT is the right platform to provide the much needed skills to the students to get the national and international exposure. “IT skills cannot be ignored today as it controls all spheres of our life,” he opined.
Exhorting the NIITians to seriously re-skill themselves, he appreciated the team of NIIT which keeps itself updated with the latest technologies. Congratulating the NIIT Dimapur center team for its 18 years of hard work in building Nagaland, the Minister asked for its expansion in other districts of Nagaland, besides opening a call center to employ the youth of Nagaland. He also advised NIIT to open a university in Nagaland for high-end technology education. He also showed his willingness to work with NIIT for any project which can benefit youth of Nagaland. He urged NIIT to launch special scholarships for the underprivileged people of eastern Nagaland.
Congratulating the Managing Director of NIIT Dimapur Center Ajay Sethi, for his 18 years of dedicated services beyond his community’s traditional business, he appreciated Jain community’ s contribution in providing an educationist for the welfare of Nagaland. He also reprimanded Sethi for confining himself in his comfort zone in Dimapur and not utilizing his potential for the benefit of whole Nagaland. Being very observant, he also analyzed and appreciated the various modes of speeches of the students and faculties.
Earlier, Ajay Sethi, MD, NIIT Dimapur reminisced about his team’s achievements in the last 18 years while offering welcome address. ‘Freshest Technology First’ being NIIT’s motto, NIIT Dimapur has undergone 11 curriculum changes to train approximately 25,000 NIITians of Nagaland while partnering with 16 institutions of Nagaland and employing almost all the major tribes of Nagaland and major communities of India at one or the other time. More than 200 people have been employed by the company till date out of which 50% have always been Nagas. He also expressed his gratitude to Government of Nagaland for sponsoring 121 unemployed youth to undergo job-guaranteed GNIIT programme at the center for becoming software engineers, while requesting for providing soft-loans or any other support for the needy youth of Nagaland.
Speaking on the occasion, Om Prakash Sethi, President, Marwari Samaj cited various ways in which Jain Samaj contributed for the welfare of Nagas in general. Abea Mero, an entrepreneur and social worker, besides being the Vice-President, NDPP said that employed or unemployed, self-employment is the need of the hour as govt. jobs are saturated. Speaking about the chief guest, she said that he is a politician by default and his corporate experience will enhance his political undertakings. Principal of S. D. Jain Hr. Sec. School, Reji Abraham shared his good experience of studying at NIIT Dimapur 15 years back.
GNIITian Myingthunglo Y. Ezung, fresher Mazir Abdin Talukdar and Meriseno Kannao, faculty also spoke on the occasion. Mughato Swu offered vote of thanks.
As a mark of foundation day celebrations, a cake was cut on the occasion by the chief guest.
